By now, you’ve heard how AVELO feels. But how does it work?
Let’s break it down.
AVELO Equipment Specifications
To help you understand the system better, here are some of the key specifications of the AVELO equipment:

AVELO Tank:
Material: Composite carbon fiber & aluminium hybrid
Weight: Approx. 7 kg (on land)
Buoyancy: Neutrally buoyant in water
Working pressure: 4,350 psig / 300 bar
Fill pressure: 3,000 – 4,350 psig / 206 - 300 bar
Hydro Buoyancy System:
Operation: Electrically controlled micro-pump
Medium: Uses small amounts of water instead of air
Adjustments: Fine-tuned using intuitive controls on the tank unit
Backplate & Harness:
Minimalist, ergonomic design
Streamlined for improved hydrodynamics
Battery & Power:
Rechargeable and recyclable lithium-ion battery
Dive duration: Supports multiple dives per charge.
A unique setup that allows to feel light, stay neutral, and remain simple to use.
How does it Work-: The AVELO System Explained
At its core, AVELO replaces two of the most common and sometimes problematic elements of diving:
➡️ the BCD (buoyancy control device)
➡️ and reduces the weight system.
Instead of inflating or deflating a jacket with air to adjust buoyancy, AVELO uses water inside a pressurised system that’s integrated into a lightweight tank and a compact backplate.
Here’s what that means in practice:
🏋️ Reduce the need of weights: the tank system is neutrally buoyant by design. Being made of carbon fiber reduces the need for lead weights. It is designed to pump water into the tank, giving the diver the extra weight needed to descend.
🌊 Water instead of air: To fine-tune your buoyancy, a small amount of water is added into the system. It allows precise, stable control without the need to constantly inflate or deflate.
🧠 Constant neutral buoyancy: Once adjusted, the amount of water in the tank, the diver stays neutrally buoyant across all depths. This removes the need for constant corrections when ascending or descending. Whether you're at 30m or 5m, your balance remains unchanged.
🤿 Built-in pressure equalization: The system equalizes internally, helping maintain balance and comfort even during longer dives or depth changes.
It sounds technical, but the experience is incredibly intuitive. In fact, most divers who try it say the same:
“It just feels natural - like this is how diving should be.”
By simplifying buoyancy control and lightening the load, AVELO makes diving smoother, easier, and more enjoyable, both physically and mentally.
Tech That Works for You::- Shearwater & AVELO Dream Team

During the course, we paired the Avelo system with a Shearwater dive computer, which was connected to a tank transmitter. And wow, game changer. Getting real-time data on diver workload and stress, air consumption, tank pressure, and remaining air time adds a whole new layer of safety.
What’s even cooler? The computer actually helps you fine-tune your buoyancy by showing you when you're at your most efficient point.
This means you're getting real feedback from your dive, allowing you to learn from your performance. The result? Safer dives and also smoother, more refined profiles. You move better, use less energy, and enjoy the experience even more.
AVELO Course: Learning a New Way to Dive
The official AVELO training includes a brief theory and two in-water sessions. What we loved most during this training is that it’s not just about using a new piece of gear, it’s about understanding a different mindset:
Diving in a more natural, efficient, and sustainable way.
Reducing physical strain and mental load.
Focusing more on the experience, less on equipment.
Whether you're new to diving or have hundreds of dives under your belt, this course gives you a whole new perspective.
Why We Believe AVELO Is the Future
After trying it, studying and learning it, we’re convinced: AVELO is not just another dive system. It’s a fundamental shift toward simpler, safer, and more sustainable diving.
It's easier for beginners.
It's more efficient for experienced divers.
It reduces the risks related to buoyancy control.
It allows you to be more connected to the environment, not your gear.
In short, it makes diving feel the way it should.
Ready to Experience the Future of Diving?
If everything you've read about AVELO has sparked your curiosity, we get it. It’s not just a piece of equipment, it’s a whole new way to dive. And the best way to truly understand it is by taking the official AVELO course.
The course blends theory and practice to help you master the system from the inside out. You’ll learn how the hydro buoyancy unit works, how to fine-tune your diving technique, and how to integrate tools like the Shearwater dive computer to maximise efficiency and safety. 🧠⚙️🌊
Whether you're a beginner or an experienced diver looking for a new challenge, this course is a chance to upgrade your skills and your whole diving experience.
📍You can currently take the AVELO course at select certified centers like Antigravity Divers in the Perhentian Islands, with more locations on the way.
